Collaborative workshops in Singapore - exploring food products with based health claims and
NZ Māori engagement
In 2019, Nuku ki te Puku held a series of workshops to explore collaborations with scientists and Singapore-based businesses interested in developing food products with health-based claims using New Zealand ingredients. Meetings were held with companies to determine their interest in the co-development and design of food products. These included Singaporean manufacturers of noodles, a supplement company, Eu Yan Sang and the Health Promotion Board (HPB), the agency funded by the Singapore Government to support healthy lifestyles through sound nutrition and exercise.

First Workshop: Consumer Insights from SEA Markets Philips Design APAC Centre.
Dr Vince Grillo, GM of Kantar Health, provided a presentation on consumer health trends in Southeast Asia. Singapore stakeholders from Fonterra and Zespri provided additional insights from their research in the region.

Second Workshop: Co-Creating Products for Wellness
During the co-create workshop, two groups were set up, one to look at Type 2 diabetes and the second group focused on aging consumers concerned about their health. Led by a Design Thinking expert, these groups explored nutritional foods for wellness and focused on two target consumer segments. A framework helped develop the ‘Big Idea’ and possible next steps, plus identify the enablers and challenges that could affect plans.
