Nuku ki te Puku held a series of workshops to explore collaborations with scientists and Singapore-based businesses interested in developing food products with health-based claims using New Zealand ingredients.

Research and clinical trials are a critical part of the market entry process. To support New Zealand exporters, a workshop was held with scientists and researchers discussing key aspects to clinical trial design and the types of screening assays that should be used.
4. Case Study: Novel Product to Manage Diabetes
One of the prototype foods developed by Nuku ki te Puku is a plant-based product that meets nutrient content regulations for New Zealand, Southeast Asia and China for a high-protein, low carbohydrate snack food with a low glycaemic index.

This was undertaken by Kantar Health in 2018, and covered key factors affecting the development of health-based products
6. Business opportunities between Māori & Thailand's B-C-G Economy
Nuku Toi was recently commissioned by the Royal Thai Embassy to evaluate and report on the business opportunities that the Māori economy can contribute to Thailand's Bio Ciruclar Green Economy.

8. New Zealanders Living Working and Trading in Southeast Asia
This research was undertaken to learn more about the experience of New Zealanders living and working in Southeast Asian (SEA) countries. We sought to understand some of the key factors that contributed to the success of the individuals’ careers or their business progress.

9. Identifying Feijoa's high value bioactive compound.
NukuToi has an MOU with Scion to investigate the potential for working with them to support their work on developing in vitro cultures using indigenous species, and in this instance Feijoas. This collaboration with Māori partners will ensure the principals of Kaitiakitanga and Kaupapa Māori are not breached.
